The Governors Office and the Oregon Health Authority need to hear from you on their decision to close our Ice Rink. 

I want to make sure the voices of support for the Sherwood Ice Arena are heard in Salem. I want to make it easy for you to tell your story about why the Sherwood Ice Arena is essential to you, your family, and the community. I sldo want to pass along your constructive critiques of the current policy being driven out of the Governor's office and constructive suggestions and feedback.

With the future of the Winterhawks Skating rink in limbo and the pending permanent closure of the Sherwood Ice Arena, we are on the brink of losing Figure Skating and Hockey for the entire Portland Metro Region for years to come.

We are ten months into this pandemic. We have learned a lot about the science of Covid transmission. We have the tools and the data to be smarter when it comes to protecting our jobs and economy during this pandemic. The time for blunt blanket closures is over.

The Sherwood Ice Arena has an outstanding record on Covid since the beginning of the pandemic. Over 14,000 people have used the facility without a single case of COVID amount customers or staff. This was not due to luck; it was because of how seriously they took the pandemic, as shown by the covid procedures they put in place (see helpful links).

We need to encourage our leaders in Salem to do more, to do better. We owe it to our business and community.
